Jose Angel Gutierrez Recommendation

Improved Essays
It is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Mr. José Angel Gutierrez who is applying for transfer admissions to the Army MSW program in Department of Social Work at Fayetteville State University. I have known Mr. Gutierrez since the fall of 2014 when he enrolled in my graduate-level social policy course at the University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Social Work. Since then he has kept me abreast of his progress in our MSW program and his service at Fort Sam Houston’s Brooke Army Medical Center. From the beginning, I have been impressed with Mr. Gutierrez’s intellectual curiosity, ability to quickly understand and analyze situations, and balance graduate school with his Army and other responsibilities, as well as his level

In the novel, Santos introduces the fences and forces the llaneros to reject their resistance to civilized changes because “Santos Luzardo arrives in the llanos as the bearer of modernity” (Henighan 31). For example, when Santos is talking to the local plainsmen and they both agree that a fence would not do any harm to the daily life and ultimately each promised to erect a fence: “Y como no podía ser todo para ambos, se convino en que sería nada, y cada cual se comprometió a levantar una cerca en torno al palmar, viniendo así a quedar éste cerrado y sin dueño entre ambas propiedades” (Gallegos 24). As the novel progress and Santos has a stronger presence on the town, Santos takes his idea of implementing the fence as part of the method to the…

I am writing to you in reference to the Bill HR 54 Tuition grants; children of officers killed in line of duty who attend University System institutions in the United States and also meet certain requirements. The purpose of this letter is to show my support for this bill and to ask for your continued support on this issue. Giving tuition to the children of officers killed in the line of duty is not only respectable, but also fair to the children who previously could not get tuition for education. Those parents in the line of duty would want their children to have a higher education and it is our responsibility to provide the proper means for them to achieve this goal. An officer named Ladson O’Connor from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office,…

Although the miscarriage of justice is not currently a frequent occurrence, throughout the years, several people have been wrongfully convicted. For multiple reasons, the guilt of the person was believed to be true; thus, punishments were administered accordingly. In an effort to minimize the wrongful convictions, The Innocence Project is committed to assist and exonerate those who have been convicted of a crime that they did not commit. In June 1995, Angel Gonzalez was convicted for aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping.…

The training, discipline, and work ethic veterans receive from the military help them in the path to a successful college career. Having these characteristics set veterans ahead of their fellow non- veteran students who do not uphold these mannerisms. Yet we often read about veterans barely getting by at college, flushing away their G.I. bill, and failing at life. Although previous military affiliation proves to be beneficial, I have learned first hand of the many challenges veterans face while attending college. While in the military, veterans are accustomed to very detailed and structured days.…

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way” these are the words of Viktor Frankl that have fueled me within the last few years. After traumatically losing my leg in an accident I did not lose my positive attitude toward life or my desire to help others, I choose my own way to continue the path I was following before this tragedy struck. From the age of 18 as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to age 25 working as a Mental Health Associate (MHA) at a hospital, I chose to lead a life of service. My drive to assist others as a CNA would be the catalyst for me discovering that I wanted to be a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. It was through my work that I discovered the common ground of suffering, but also the resilience of the human spirit.…

In this section of the project, I described the national problem, basis for choosing the problem, defined few topic-specific terms, implications of the problem, and problem as it relates to the research questions. In this study, I examined the problem of military transition to civilian life as it affects hundreds of thousand of veterans of the U.S. Military who have served our country but may have been discharged without sufficient receipt of resources and services to equip them. Particularly, I analyzed relationships between career adaptability and transition confidence & readiness of service persons that participated in SFL-TAP workshops. Since the establishment of TAP in 1990, very few evaluation have been conducted evidently making it difficult…

As a veteran I choose to continue my service to the United States by serving as a Social Worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs. I have been working at one of the local VA Medical Centers for a little over a year. Initially I see my role as a broker; connecting my clients with support services they need with the hopes to grow into an advocate supporting my veterans. Serving as a champion for this population seems to be a no brainer for me; as I believe that foundational piece is critical to their wellbeing. Advocates have the ability to use either a ecological or system theory in the support of homeless veterans as “both perspective emphasize external interactions instead of internal functioning”…

Growing up in a Vietnamese family in America, the value of life is highlighted by working hard and knowing your roots. Stories about family hardship and history told from the older generation in my family are mostly ones of war. I have heard many different elements of war: war crimes, anticommunist sentiments, and the escape from Vietnam. Hearing these stories has always resonated with me, motivating me to work hard for the sacrifice of those before me. In that sense, I worked rigorously to provide myself an education from the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas and was excited about pursuing a professional health career.…

I advocated for clients by educating employers about the unlimited potential of a person living with a developmental delay. After careful consideration, I decided to become properly trained in advocacy and started my academic career in the pursuit of a Social Work Degree. Now that I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work and became licensed in the state of Mississippi, I am prepared to go into a more specialized field of study. This is the reason I am pursuing my master degree in social work at Louisiana State University.…
