The business that I choose is Jones Soda Co. Jones Soda is a company that sells soft drinks. It was established in 1986 in Western Canada. During its first 10 years, the company sells variety lines of beverage other than just Jones Soda. However, in 2000, the company found out that “over 85% of its revenues came from the Jones Soda brand”. Therefore, the company decided to change its name to Jones Soda. ("About Jones Soda Co.",2008)
In this report, Jones Soda co. will be analyzed from three main aspects. Firstly, Jones Soda’s advantages in market competition will be revealed by analyzing its market strategy. First of all, as a company that sells soft drinks, Coca-ColaPepsi and other famous soft drink brand are competing with Jones Soda in the soft drink market. There are two main factors that make Jones Soda more competitive in the market. Firstly, Jones Soda is wildly like by people for its “unique and innovative flavors” (“jsda”,2014). In order to find out the reliability of this quote, I went to the UTCS store for an investigation. Inside the fridge of the store, I found several rows of Jones soda with a variety of flavors including berry lemonade, pineapple cream and even birthday cake flavor. This illustrates one of the strategies that Jones Soda uses which is to produce unique flavors of their soft drinks and therefore arouse people’s curiosity to try. For the recent four years, the revenue of Jones Soda Co. kept increasing. The statistics show that in 2014, the revenue for Jones Soda Co. was approximately $1.355 million (jsda”,2014). In 2015, its revenue increased a little to approximately $1.36 million (Jones Soda Co. Reports, n.d.). In 2016, Jones Soda Co.’s revenue increased 15.3% to about $15.4 million (Jones Soda Co. Reports, n.d.). What brought the most revenue to Jones Soda Co. were the sodas that they sold. The risen of revenue as time passed can clearly indicate the success of Jones Soda Co. From my perspective, what makes Jones Soda successful is that the company did a great job on its value package. The reasons will be illustrated by analyzing its value package from three aspects. Firstly, the function of the soda is obvious. People can buy sodas to decrease their thirst. As for people who like soft drinks, Jones Soda can bring satisfaction to those consumers. Secondly, the feature of Jones Soda is emphasized through its packaging. The packaging with unique photos brings more pleasure to consumers when consuming the products. Thirdly, the benefits that Jones Soda can bring to their consumers along with their products are satisfaction and a sense of uniqueness.
