Jonbenet's Poem

In my personal opinion, I still believe that one of her family members killed her. They found a ransom note with the exact amount of bonus money John company had made. This was no coincidence. On top of that the note was written from the same type of paper the Ramsey’s used to take messages and write down phone numbers. JonBenet was found bound with rope and at the end with a broken paint brush, the same paint brush that came with Patsy art set. I do not understand how this could even happen if she did not have anything to do with it. Could it be that someone was setting them up? But why? What is their gain? Absolutely nothing. The medical examiner also found undigested pineapple in JonBenet’s system. The parents both denied having pineapple,

So far, all evidence implicating her in the case is indirect.(1) Bill McReynolds, now dead, was a friend of the Ramsey's who had dressed up as Santa Claus the week before JonBenét's murder to entertain the neighborhood children at one of Patsy's Christmas gatherings. The possibility that the now-deceased McReynolds had anything to do with JonBenét's death is extremely…

In the beginning of the poem, Bradstreet is sleeping during a calm and quiet night, and then suddenly, she wakes up by “thund’ring noise / And piteous shrieks of dreadful voice” (lines 3-4). She then sees that her house is burning in fire. Terrified, she cries out to God and prays so that God would help her. Her house eventually got entirely burned up, and Bradstreet ended up homeless, but she did not lose hope. She began to pull herself together and realized that God took away something that didn’t belong to her anyway.…

This week, our class had the chance to read four interesting poems of Lines Written a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey, We Real Cool, Mad Girl’s Love Song, and Hanging Fire. Each of these poems highlight the important role that imagery and other poetic devices play into an interpretation of a poem and how crucial it is to understand the perceptive of a poem’s speaker. The poem I enjoyed the most this week was Hanging Fire by Audre Lorde. On the surface, Hanging Fire is about a 14 year-old who struggles with typical adolescent things such as bad skin, boy problems, school dances, and braces. However, once we re-read the poem and took the time to analysis it, it because quite clear that teenaged problems are not the only things troubling the speaker.…

kay, so now we know about timshel, but it's also Adam's last word before he dies (at least it wasn't something totally random like rosebud). He says it right after Lee gets him to give Cal his blessing, i.e. show that he loves him as a son and free him from the guilt of "killing" his brother. It's a moment where things are at a crossroads for Cal: he could go on hating himself for what he has done and thinking that his dad died hating his guts, or he can be free and go on to break the Cain-Abel curse that seems to follow the Trask family around. As Lee says to Adam, "Give him his chance"…

The press is highly responsible for this. Even after being cleared by the DNA evidence the Ramsey’s have remained under a multitude of suspicion from the world. To this day there are still people that believe that they killed their daughter. Because of their social status and wealth, many people assume that they paid higher officials off and hired high-powered attorneys who had connections with the DA’s office. Many feel that the media was controlled and information they obtained was purposely manipulated to benefit certain theories.…

Many avoidable mistakes occurred during the murder investigation of JonBenet Ramsey, resulting in unsalvageable evidence and new mistakes. The Boulder Police made simple mistakes that went against basic training. On December 26, 1996, the Boulder Police started off their investigation on a bad note, they did not escort John Ramsey as he searched his house for his allegedly kidnapped daughter…

“Another Elegy” is a poem about the relationships in life that happen. In the line “This is what our dying looks like..” gives us as a reader the feeling that we need to believe that when something bad happens, we need to just believe that something that is there. The poem is about someone trying to kill themselves. It happens in the line, “he let the gun go off in his mouth.” Then, all of a sudden, the bad side of the person in the poem comes out.…

The War Prayer carries a heavy anti-war message using a cynical tone of religion. The setting of the poem is at height when Imperialism was the strongest. Twain used collective phrases to glorify war and emphasize patriotism. Twain is able to capture this setting by describing a celebration in the streets, “the drums were beat, the bands playing, the top pistols popping, the bunches firecrackers hissing and spluttering”, “flags flashed in the sun” (Perkins, 57). To further capture this image Twain used the pastors speech of “devotion to flag and country.…

Georgia Douglas Johnson was acknowledged as being gay or bisexual female poet. After my initial reading of her poem titled “Your World”, I felt that it was very uplifting and inspiring, and gives a message about setting goals and conquering the world. She used very bold words and phrases in her poem such as “my wings pressing close to my side” as if she was a bird preparing to take flight and explore the world (p. 63). The overall message is not to be afraid or be fearful of the unknowns, just plan, go and do great things. Reading the poem a second time with a gay perspective does change the meaning a bit for me.…
