Jonas always had a sense he was different than the others, the light colored eyes seeing the apple change and then being selected. As he received the memories he started becoming more independent he wanted to become the one that made the decisions for himself. The first sign that he was becoming more of his true self was when he started questioning the way the community was runned he didn’t think the way things were happening was the correct way. Then he started taking action and stopped taking the pills to stop the stirrings from happening, he become closer with Gabriel and passed warm memories to him with the hopes that he wouldn’t have to live an empty life. He understood that he needed to do something to change he knew that he was what the Giver needed to free him and the community from this fake life they were living. He become self conscious and became his own
