Behind me Jonah’s radio announces that the reinforcements are going to arrive any minute. And they’ll find both me and Adam here standing next to the lieutenant, if we don’t move fast.
“He…”Adam stutters, “He was going to hurt you.”
“Adam we have to leave now,” I say, “they’ve called more soldiers.”
Adam doesn’t move, doesn’t even knowledge that he even heard me. He’s in shock. I rush to him and rip the gun from his gloved hand, then attempt to whip it clean and then give up when I only manage to spread my own blood over the handle.
“Adam we have to go.”
