Early Years:
John Francis Bongiovi was born on March 2nd, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and named after his father. Jon was raised by his parents Carol and John Bongiovi.
Jon's passion for music began when his mother bought him an acoustic guitar at the age of 7. He struggled to play the guitar but recognised artists such as Elton John, Rush, Thin Lizzy, and his favourite Bruce Springsteen.
By his early teenage years, Jon was going out at local clubs and friends convincing him that one day he will become a famous rock star. Jon idolized rising stars, such as Bruce Springsteen and the Ashbury Jukes. He was playing in clubs by the time he was 16 years of age. In 1974, while a

2. Bon Jovi were originally going to be called Johnny Electric, but a friend suggested they follow Van Halen's example of taking their leaders last name.
3. Most American fan's know Jon Bon Jovi from their albums 'Slippery When Wet' and 'New Jersey' but throughout Europe, Australia, and Japan the band are most famous for the album crush in 2000. The album 'Crush' sold nearly twice as many copies overseas.
4. Jon Bon Jovi is the co-owner of the Arena Football League team, the Philadelphia Soul, also shot a video with Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway in 2005.
5. In 2013, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora played undercover at New York's Chelsea Market to collect funds for the MusiCares charity.
6. Jon Bon Jovi has a Pub on his property grounds, which is only opened to his family and friends.

The role of this electric guitarist is to play the instrumental solo found after the second chorus. The electric guitar is using an effect which is called the Talk Box effect that is used in the introduction. This effect is making the electric guitar sound like as if it could talk.

5. Do you hear any riffs? If yes, which instrument plays the riff?
Yes, the bass player is playing the riff throughout the song.

6. Is there any instrumental section? If yes, which instrument features as the solo? How long is the instrumental section? Any particular electronic effects? If yes, describe where it occurs? Yes there is an instrumental section and the instrumental solo is 7 bars long. There is no electronic effects displayed in Livin' on a Prayer.

7. How would I describe the voice I hear?
In the beginning the voice I hear is a rough, aggressive, course voice by Richie Sambora using the talk box effect. The voice I hear towards the end is falsetto which is Bon Jovi's voice, and sounds like as if he is screaming and straining his voice.
