Joker In The Dark Knight And Lord Of The Flies

Joker in The Dark Knight and Jack Merridew in The Lord of the Flies desire the power to push entire society into corruption of madness and anarchy by their successful leading skills. They trap people using violence and trickery and diffuse their responsibilities to someone else. The Joker and Jack don’t have any humanizing elements; instead, they attempt to destroy humanized society. They, the shadows confront with protagonists and natural humanity to officialize their ideology. The Joker and Jack set a goal to bring chaos and to make people fight against each other to prove that the society does not work well with their evil and uncivilized instinct. Joker states that“It’s not about money. It’s about sending a message(Dark Knight).” He never desire of money or wealth instead, he controls human will in his game. The ideal in people wants to support Batman and believe that the humanity will enhance the society; however Carl Jung claimed that acknowledging the Shadow balances the human psyche and which lure people into darkness of humanity. Joker traps them by reminding of their instinct nature of brutal realism. In the Lord of the Flies, when Jack puts on face painting, “He looked in astonishment no longer at himself but at an awesome stranger(Goldings,63).” Jack realizes his change from an ordinary, well-educated boy to a savage and he soon symbolizes evil and danger. He initiates the breakaway from civilised behavior to savage behavior and brings up the corruption of society among the boys on the island.
