We started with a post holiday compressed workweek, so our course is only four days. Early morning in processing for badges, computer issue, course familiarization, and student/faculty and Commandant introductions. The rest of the day was a quick overview (to be expounded upon in the next four days) of what our fellow JPME I classmates are familiar with.
Six hours of lectures and discussion on broad stroke: National Security Strategy (NSS), Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), Capstone Concept for Joint Operations, National Military Strategy (NMS), Unified Command Plan (UCP), Guidance for Force Employment (GEF), Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan (JSCP), JPP, JP 3-0, & JP 5-0 to name a few. I am assigned to JPME-II Seminar 9, with 17 other students. Within my seminar I have O-5 as well as O-6 students. We will get a National Capitol tour in February/March. There are research paper requirements for graduation. Not to mention we are required to select three elective courses to complement our JPME-II experience. I intend to select the following: Ethical Challenges for Strategic Leaders, Social Media-Legal Policy&Ethical Issues, Homeland Security.
