I am a C-130 Pilot and currently serve as the Operations Support Squadron Director of Operations for our Operation Group. I serve as an Air Reserve Technician in a Reserve Airlift Wing. As a C-130 guy my career field fits into the narrative in a few ways. One way is that we directly receive ATO and fly them within the confines of various restrictions. The 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team (4ABCT) proud tradition of excellence throughout its history took a turn for the worse with its recent deployment and redeployment issues from Afghanistan. An organizational change within 4ABCT is paramount in order to return to its storied heritage of excellence by being a contributing member of the division. In order to complete the change from its current state to a well-respected unit, I would execute a blended version of the seven-step vision process with John Kotter’s eight-stage model to create successful and lasting change. First, I would begin with conducting an initial assessment of the brigade prior to taking command, which is the first step in the seven-step vision process. From this initial…

Introduction The United States Air Force’s foundational tenet for command and control of air and space forces is “centralized control and decentralized execution” executed by a Joint Forces Air Component Commander through an Air Operations Center. Centralized control and decentralized execution is the fundamental organizing principle for the United States Air Force and affects everything from presentation of forces to weapon systems to doctrine to professional military education. This long seated tenet evolved through peace and war to have air minded leadership of airpower and ensure commanders understood and appropriately employed the unique characteristics of airpower rather than diluting the tactical, operational, and strategic effects of airpower. Limited by the state of technology during the evolution from World War One through World War Two, air forces were centrally managed by a theater level air commander and missions were executed by subordinate air…

Cyber System Operations install and support systems to ensure they operate properly and remain secure from outside intrusion. They also create systems and programs to give the military an advantage in Cyber technology. This is something I want to do because I think it's really cool that you get to create programs and hacks improve the United States cyber operations. Skills wise I have none, but I could learn from my dad or from the "Cyber Systems Operations Initial Skills" course. When I retire from the Air Force I can either create tools for the U.S. government to use or teach civilians to do…

Considering the ongoing budget cuts and force reductions, the Army should maintain its current level of reliance on contract support, with condition to adopt some measures to maximize the benefits from contractors. From my opinion, Successful operational contract support is the ability to manage and direct all activities necessary to execute contract support integration requirements in a designated operational area. For example, during the last two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Operational Contract Support played an important role in providing effective and efficient solutions to the USA. The decrease of the army budget in the coming years will be certainly a challenge to USA. From my perspective, the army should continue to rely in contractors…

When I was assigned the Patrol Base Operations and PCC/PCI lab, I noticed first hand exactly how vital planning is to an entire operation. Everything had to be discussed at length, written down, revised, rehearsed, and timed. As my partner and I worked through our material we applied the fundamentals of the Operations Process to our assignment. We planned what facilities we would have and what equipment we would use; we prepared a power point presentation for the class and a short skit to perform; and we rehearsed for hours on end. Despite all our efforts, unforeseen circumstances still arose and adaptations had to be made.…

Medium term plans are set out termly or half termly and provide more in-depth details with an overview of the topics and activities, the learning objectives and learning outcomes. This will include any school trips or outside organisations that need to be book which will enrich pupils learning and how it all links into the legislation of the National Curriculum or Early Years…
