Joint Commission formally known as the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is and independent, non-for-profit organization (JCAHO, 2015). JCAHO was found in 1951 it role is too provided safely and quality care that received by health care organization throughout the United States. Therefore, before the commission can reach any goals they are using a measurement system which helps with survey’s to grant accreditation to healthcare organization that is other role joint commission has. In today, society joint commission have over 17,000 healthcare facilities that are accredited and can be accredited by the joint commission formally known as JCAHO in the United stated. Here are list of facilities that became accredited:
Psychiatric Hospital
Children’s Hospital
Rehabilitation Hospital
Home Healthcare
Nursing home and other long term facilities
Ambulatory care providers
Clinical laboratories
Healthcare staffing services
Basically anything that is dealing with patient safety will need to be check and passing with good standard by Joint Commission. I would not want to work for a facilities if not certified or accredited by joint commission and I know patients will not feel safe just knowing that that equipment the hospital are using is not updated and some of the medical staff member …show more content…
Example; physician sewing surgical clothes inside of a woman stomach which lead to not communication with your peer and not playing attention to detail or medication tech not verification the right medication which cause for the patient taking wrong medication which ends up patient becoming brain dead. So, this is why joint commission visit the entire facilities so that they can know what people are doing, do they know what they are doing, and are the equipment calibrated up and running
