This time would be different, I told myself, no longer was I the guy to simply just pass by or merely getting through situations. I felt something within myself that tugged at my determination and motivation to strive towards my ultimate goal in furthering my education. At one point I felt completely powerless over my obstacles, my grades throughout high school were never up to par with the high ranking college requirements. Just thinking of asking my parents to provide thousands of dollars to send me to the university of my choice was out of the question. I felt a pang of guilt and disappointment in myself. For the past four months I had someone telling how to manage my life. I was told when to go to sleep, when to eat, and what to wear. In my mind all I thought about was the rain. You would here on the news how much rain the state of Washington would get and how the weather just made everyone depressed. I did not want to feel that way, especially knowing that I was going to be there for an extended period of time. Once I arrived on base everyone in my new unit welcomed me with open arms and a caring attitude. I was starting to like it that was until I arrived at my company. As soon as I walked in I heard this really high pitched voice cursing and yelling into a cell phone, little did I know that same person was going to be my section chief or in the civilian world my manager. Before I walked around the corner to see who it was talking I envisioned a short, skinny, and somewhat goofy individual but I was wrong. It was the total opposite of what I had in my mind. He stood about six foot, large, and had a mean face. I never felt more intimidated in my life when he walked up to me. I can not remember his first words to me but it was probably a joke of some sort. From the moment I first introduced myself he was always on top of work. As a section he led us into becoming the best section three years in a row. Being the best section is comprised of winning a series of events such as having the best physical training
