Johnson & Johnson ITLDP Information Session (9/22) I attend the Johnson & Johnson ITLDP information session located in the GITC building in room 3710. Johnson & Johnson employees came in to give students like myself information about the ITLDP program, IT co-ops, and internships. I attend this event because I am graduating at the end of December, so I just wanted to see if any opportunities were possibly for me with Johnson & Johnson. I learned a lot about the ITLDP program that the company offers. The program is a two year program that consists of rotating between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The program is designed to help the participants gain experience in technology, project management, and gain experience on the business side. I think …show more content…
This event was held so we students can learn how to be confident when meeting employers and to learn how to make a great professional first impression at the upcoming fall NJIT career fair. I previously had no idea what I would start and open up a conversation at the career fair with an employer and I have never attend a career fair in the past. I felt like going to this event could be beneficial to be for the career fair and for any job interviews in the future as well.
By attending this event, I learned how to act and what to say during the career fair while talking to companies. I learned that I should do some basic back research on the companies that interested me that were going to be at the upcoming career fair. I learned to have a few questions prepared to ask each recruiter and I learned to prepare a little speech about myself that focuses on what I can bring to a company. The main thing I learned however is to just be confident. Sounding and acting confident is important when talking to a recruiter from a company. You want to sound confident about your abilities and be able to show what unique qualities you can bring if you were hired as an employee for his/her company. Going to this event was everything that I expected. I gained a lot of knowledge of how to act and talk to employers who may be interested in hiring

The session was held by Cigital which is a software security firm. Cigital representatives came in to discuss and learn about potentially job and internship opportunities that company can offer. I originally heard about Cigital in the beginning of my senior capstone class. They were one of the companies that participated in the class by offering projects for the students of the class to complete for them. Before I had to pick a company to work with for the class, Cigital was one of my favorites one. I just like the idea of working on more of a security side of computing. However, I picked to work with a different company, but I really did enjoy Cigital and what they had to offer. When I heard about the meeting, I immediately wanted to

For the interview process, the two people that I interviewed were Martha Millison and Cecilia Rivas. Martha Millison is a school counselor at Green-Wood Charter School in Philadelphia and Cecilia Rivas is a CUA chief management supervisor. When both Martha and Cecilia came and spoke to our class, I was so intrigued by what they said that I wanted to know more about their work field. I especially found Martha job interesting because she works in a school setting and that’s where I want to work. I really enjoyed interviewing these two women because when I finish college I want to work with children and both Martha and Cecilia work with children in different ways.…

I attended a speaker event representing Land O’Lakes Inc. on October 25, 2016 from 6 PM to 7 PM in Blegen Hall, which was presented by Adam. To briefly discuss about the speaker’s education, he finished his undergraduate degree in History and is currently an MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with a particular focus on supply chain management. One of the reasons he decided to join the Carlson School of Management to pursue a graduate degree is to seek more career opportunities as he could not find a job within his field after his graduation from college. Besides his academic career, he has a five-year work experience in the Land O’Lakes. Inc.…

Prior to the UNI Career Fair, I did some research on the University website to try to figure out which booths I was interested in visiting. The Lutheran Services in Iowa booth wasn’t one that was particularly on my list. This company is a non-profit organization that helps people who are struggling to parent children with behavioral or mental health issues. I wasn’t exactly sure what Lutheran Services In Iowa was all about until I walked past their station, and saw words on a poster saying “help children” and “family focus”.…

    1) How will the Washington Center Seminar contribute to achieving your academic, career and personal goals? The Washington Center Seminar will contribute to achieving my academic goals because as a student because I learned one of the best ways to become better is to challenge myself. I love being challenged because it gives me the opportunity to learn something new and become more open minded. It contributes to my career because as a future physician I should know a thing or two about politics. Telemetry Volunteer As a Telemetry Volunteer at the extremely busy Telemetry Department at Scripps Prebys Cardiovascular Institute, La Jolla, CA, through my over 300-hours of regular, evening service, I significantly increased my practical medical assistant skills by aiding telemetry technicians, hospital staff, cardiovascular patients, stroke patients, and family members. More specifically, when not monitoring and analyzing EKG tracings, I consistently delivered following hospital protocols supervised care and extra comfort by: Maintaining and organizing telemetry boxes, adjusting patient EKG leads, replenishing supplies, transporting samples to the lab, running errands for the staff, directly assisting nurses in clean rooms, and comforting patients and their families (e.g. adjusting blankets, active listening). These many hours of applied telemetry training, the…

For the informational interview I contacted a family friend Rebecca Gray Detling who is an executive sales manager with ICH Global LLC. I first just started off asking Rebecca on what she majored in college, how it prepared her for her job, what courses were the most valuable, and what class she wished she would have taken while in school. While in college Rebecca majored in physical therapy and had a minor in finance because she knew she wanted a future in the business field while helping out people in the medical field. Once out of college though she said that the most valuable class she took was a little of every class because with a career in the medical field, sales, and finance not one class is better than the other but a little of each class was extremely valuable.…

Proximately 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Colored Americans in Southern states still had a blunt unequal world of segregation and sundry forms of oppression, including race-influenced brutality. “Jim Crow” laws at the local and verbalize levels barred them from schools and restrooms, from theaters and certain transportation, from courts and constitutional rights. In 1954, the high court established the “separate but equal” law that composed the substratum for state-approved segregation, bringing international and national awareness to African Americans’ struggle. In the unstable decade and a moiety that followed, civil rights activists used peaceful protests and civil incompliance to establish change, and the federal regime made legislative improvement with actions such as the 1965 Voting Rights and the 1968 Civil Rights Act.…

Active Listening Scenario: My active listening conversation occurred during my first training workshop for the NOVA ambassador program at JSOM. It was a Friday afternoon, and among the attendees, there were 3 staff members and 14 NOVA ambassadors, including myself. We were at a small classroom that invited people to sit close to each other, allowing a closer group interaction. I took a seat right in the middle of the classroom, facing right at the presenter, a school faculty member, with a notebook and pencil at hand.…
