He looked up records of his family and found a history of domestic violence towards John. The Policeman was so shocked he decided to sit on a chair near John’s desk. He glanced at the desk and found a notebook. He decided to take a look in the notebook and found that John had been writing about his family. He was disturbed of what he read because John talked about his experience with domestic abuse. Then the Policeman decided to go to the date, where his family died and the day after, April 9th and 10th of 1832, to see Johns view. He was shocked, John wrote,” I’m tired of my family beating me every night. I wish it would stop. My family is coming over tonight, and I hate how they are so gullible with my parents. They do not realize how I get treated on a daily basis. Well I got to go ready up for the supper, hopefully everything will be alright”. Then the Policeman turned to the next page, which was the day after his family died April 10th, 1832, and it surprised the policeman even more. John wrote,” I saw the chance and I took it. I killed my family. They sent me out to feed the horses and I saw my chance. When I left the building I took a lot of dry wood and cloth and set it against the building. I duplicated a match that John Walker made in 1827, and set the tenement on fire. Yes, I killed my family. I might regret it later on, but I will not get beaten another day”. The Policeman was astounded

Today, most families are faced with hardships, but Jeannette Walls and John Steinbeck wrote some of the best examples of endurance in their novels The Glass Castle and The Grapes of Wrath. In The Glass Castle, Walls wrote about her childhood and problems that were unique to her family. Steinbeck wrote about a very common issue that tenant farmers faced during the dust bowl and Great Depression of the 1930’s. He wrote of a fictional family, the Joads. The Walls and Joad family both lived their lives under completely different circumstances, but they had two common characteristics that allowed them to survive, loyalty and resilience.…

The Chicago Fire On that devastating day on October 8, 1871, the unspeakable happened, when a fire broke out in a barn, the owners of the barn being the O’Learys, that soon destroyed almost all of Chicago. In this essay, I will be proving the statement “Everything Went Wrong,” out of a book that I read about the Chicago fire, called The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy. Here are some details to prove that during that fire “Everything went wrong.” My first detail to show that “Everything went wrong” on that day is that when the fire was noticed, people were ignoring alarms, AND the wind was picking up. You must be wondering, “Why would anyone ignore alarms?”…

The Gospel of John is one of the four Gospels written to tell the story of Jesus’ life. Just as Matthew, Mark, and Luke have given their accounts of Jesus’ miracles so has John. Though these accounts may have their own way of telling what is important to them, the main fact is that these Gospels were recorded so that we may learn more of the word of God. “In order to understand John’s approach to the story of Jesus, the reader must recognize the centrality of the incarnation of the Gospel” (NIB 1905). The book of John begins, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).…
