In the book Johnny Tremain there is a lot of technology and culture that takes play in the story. It is also very accurate for it's time period and that is one of the reasons i think it won a John Newbery Medal.
The book is about a 14 year old boy named Johnny Tremain . THis boy is a silversmith who lives with Mr.Lapham who is also a older silversmith. Mr Lapham is teaching Johnny and his two brothers Dove and Dusty about silversmithing but Johnny the best of the three is getting too much pride and Mr Lapham is trying to teach him to be humble and more life lessons out of the bible. He really don't teach Dove and Dusty because they don't pay attention also he wants Johnny to take over the business when he grows older. Mrs Lapham also wants Johnny to marry one of her daughters. Mr lapham is an older gentleman so he likes to take thing slow and easy but Johnny dont. Well they do the sugar basin but Johnny don't think the handle look alright but everyone says it's fine. Well Johnny goes and sees Paul Revere the best craftsmen in Boston. There no time to fix the problem because everything is closed on Sunday Johnny tells Mrs Lapham wants wrong with it and she says that Mr Lapham will be gone for most of the day so she will open the shop even though it's illegal. Johnny starts to work after Mr.Lapham leaves and asks Dove for a crucible. Dove trying to be funny gives him and cracked crucible. Johnny starts to use it and silver pours all over Johnny's hand and burns it severely. Mrs.Lapham trying not get in trouble calls a midwife instead of a doctor so they don't get caught. The midwife wraps the bandage around his hand all wrong and Johnny's hand is now crimped and he can never silversmith
