Johnny In The Outsiders

Johnny, a character from S.E. Hinton’s novel the Outsiders, has a sad and rather undesirable and short outer life, which is best depicted in George Friedrich Handel’s, The Death March. Johnny can almost be described as being rather melancholy. His life at home is not ideal,”I think I like it better when the old man's hittin' me." Johnny sighed. "At least then I know he knows who I am (Hinton 45). Johnny’s parents are not very honourable individuals and are constantly using physical violence against him. Johnny makes a grave mistake one day and kills a Soc named Bob. He goes into hiding with his friend, Ponyboy Curtis, and dies when he tries to save kids out of a burning church. Johnny died as a hero, but his home life was ghastly and he was a hood. I think Handel’s Death March described Johnny’s …show more content…
Johnny does not have much going for him. He experiences a lot hate within his household and got brutally attacked by a Soc. He must feel very sad and not very confident being short and bit stupid. The song that best describes Johnny’s so called “inner life”, would be Kanye West’s song, Bad News. The main obvious reasoning that I chose this song was it is sad and so is Johnny, "I'll kill myself or something"(42). Even if I did not play this song for you, I think if you have got an ounce of common sense, you could figure out by the title that this particular song is not the most joyful thing you may here. If a child is conveying that being hit is a almost a good sensation, there is some issues in that person’s household and life. I chose a funeral march for Johnny's outer life and chose a sad Kanye song for his inner life. I think it is safe to say that Johnny might not be the world's most jubilant sort of person. Depression is the core of the song, Bad News. I may have slightly exaggerated the depression aspect of Johnny’s life but I think it is accurate to say, he does not have a good
