That coincides with Johnny Got His Gun, Joe the young boy and his father bonds through fishing every summer together by themselves but that soon changes. Conflicted Joe has a friend of his “Bill Harper coming up tomorrow to go fishing” and it’s a serious matter between him and his father. As the reader, I only know Joe’s father’s thoughts and responses as he reveals them through his actions. But Joe’s thoughts, interpretation, and reactions are shared throughout the story.
