Johnny Gioeli's Crush 40

Great Essays
Johnny Gioeli is the lead vocalist of the band Crush 40. He was born on the 5th of October 1967 in Brooklyn, New York. Johnny's musical career began after forming a band known as Phaze with his older brother. At the age of 17, he started drumming with the band Killerhit in 1983. By 1987, Johnny and his brother were able to purchase their own lighting rig, truck and tour bus, which was purchased from Jimmy Buffet. After re-locating to Hollywood, Bret Michaels gave Killerhit his former publicist Debra Rosner's number, and she instantly became the band's manager. Johnny vacated the drum stool for center stage, as he felt the need for there to be a front man. Las Vegas native, Darek Cava, took his place behind the drum kit at this point. This brought attention and admiration to the band, as they were courted by top record executives for months. Differences began to develop between the band members before a recording deal could be secured, and the band decided to break up in 1991. Johnny then started working with his brother Joey on songs for an album they were going to call Brothers. However, Neil Schon, Journey's guitarist, met with them and asked if he could play with them, to which they agreed. Then in 1992 they called themselves Hardline and were somewhat successful but not enough to get into the mainstream. Due to troubles with their manager and Neil Schon, the band broke up. Johnny had all but disappeared from the music scene until, in 1998, German guitarist Axel Rudi Pell found himself in need of a vocalist. Axel eventually found means of contacting Johnny and flew him to Germany to record vocals for his Oceans of Time CD, which has been considered as one of the best Axel Rudi Pell albums so far. He is now the permanent lead vocalist of the band. After he met with further success in the band Axel Rudi Pell, Johnny and his band Hardline returned to release their second album, released in 2002. In April 2009 came "Leaving the End Open", followed by "Danger Zone" in May …show more content…
Unlike a lot of people, I had not started playing Sonic games until I owned Sonic Adventure DX for the Nintendo Gamecube. By this time, I only knew what I had learned from watching several YouTube videos, that he was a fast hedgehog who was a hero. But when I played the game, I not only loved the story, I loved the music. Each character had a specific vocal song for their theme, which was amazing to me. What really blew me away was the theme song for the whole game, which played during the final stage, a song called “Open Your Heart”. This song was sung by Crush 40, and was ultimately a fitting song for the game. The lyrics tell of the events of the game somewhat, with the fact that Chaos, the ancient monster, had harbored so much hate for what had happened in the past, that he was rampaging and ravaging everything. Sonic takes it upon himself to go up against the monster, now at full power, and though it seemed like a hopeless situation, he wouldn’t give up until the end. The fact that one song could sum all of that up, really made me understand the game more, and I loved that. In the second Adventure game, Sonic Adventure 2, this trend continued, as the story of this game also dealt with events of the past, resulting in one entity trying to take revenge for what happened. In the end, during the last stage, the song
