Being gallant means to be selfless and brave. Dallas Winston lived a gallant life. This is shown in the book many times. In the book, he helped Johnny and Ponyboy got away with murder. This is very brave because he could get in serious trouble helping them. This is selfless because Dally could not get anything good out of helping them. Helping them did not benefit Dally at all. Well Ponyboy and Johnny are at the church, Dallas comes to visit them and took them out to get food. This shows gallantness because he did not have to visit them. He could’ve got caught on his way there or when he was actually there and gotten in trouble for again helping them. This again couldn’t have benefited him, but it could’ve hurt him.
