Johnny Cash was born J.R Cash on February 26, 1932, in Kingsland, Arkansas. Cash had six siblings, seven including him. J.R. spent much of his 15 years out in the fields, working alongside his parents and siblings to help pay off their debts. It wasn’t an easy life for his family and him. Music was one of the ways the Cash family found an escape from some of the hardship. Songs where always surrounding J.R.. During the summer he enlisted in the U.A. Air Force as “John R. Cash” since the military required a full first name. He was in the Air Force for four years. He stationed in Landsberg, and West Germany. During his time in Germany, Cash drew more attention to the music. When being in the military, him and a group of friends started the “Landsberg Barbarians.” After his discharge in July 1954, Cash settled in Memphis Tennessee, still pursuing his music career. In 1954, Elvis Presley, sparked up Cash’s first record. Sun Records then issued the record. The Sun Records owner gave in and Cash and the band soon started singing, showing their skills.
