Johnny And Johnny: A Narrative Fiction

The light from the morning sun shone through the windows of their hotel room the next morning. Their prior evening was filled with libations and passion. Clarissa woke up to Johnny with her wig uneven and her makeup smudged upon her white pillow. And Johnny was still somewhat unconscious when Clarissa opened her eyes to him. She wasn’t the slightest bit afraid of him waking up to her like this because he had seen her without makeup before this moment. She leaned into him with his eyes still being closed. Her lips puckered a bit and she gave him a light kiss on his broad forehead. As she moved away from his forehead…his eyes lightly opened. The sheet had been kicked off of himself in the middle of the night, so he was exposed to her. His brown …show more content…
She put her fingers, which still had most of the glue on nails upon them, though his short brown hair atop his head. He copied her action by taking one of his brawny hands and petted her wig. The wig was synthetic, but felt pretty real to Johnny. Much of their anxieties about each other were subsiding after the previous night’s release. He had awoken even more when he said, “I’m gonna’ make us some coffee, and we’ll sit out on the balcony in our white robes.” She loved that he was still attentive to her even after they had made love; she kind of knew he would be from all of the signs he had given her over the past few weeks. Johnny was her first Southern man, and she really was beginning to get a good picture of the kind of men they spawned down there. While the coffee was percolating, Clarissa ran into the bathroom to freshen up a bit with her makeup bag/purse. She looked into the mirror for a few moments and truly felt as though she was dreaming…that all this could not be real! She quickly came to after her pondering in the mirror to only then fix and adjust her synthetic …show more content…
“Oh, I know you’ll have this one covered…I’ve seen you in action quite a few times now,” Johnny stated to her in a somewhat mischievous manner. She then got up, with her hands holding her coffee mug, and then gave him a kiss on top of his head. He leaned forward in anticipation for the kiss. They both never failed to see their cues towards each other. She held her head in his direction, and as soon as he had peered towards the ocean once more, she hanged her head low and wondered, “Will I be healthy and make it into Johnny’s world by Christmas and Hanukah?” Clarissa grabbed more coffee and did some self-talk to herself. She made a pact to herself that she would not, and could not have the heart to, tell Johnny of her terminal diagnosis. The two finished their weekend by strolling the sands and beaches near the pier in Oceanside, California. They ate out once at the restaurant that was at the ending point of the pier. They had only been together a short while as it was, but this would be one of the last encounters where Clarissa would feel at her best as a feminine person, and as a person,

From Dalton Trumbo’s novel, Johnny Got His Gun, a 15-year old boy and his father travel to one of their most cherished places during childhood, a lake 9,000 feet above sea level. This time, though, rather than spending every moment with his father, the boy now wishes to hang out with one of his friends, Bill Harper, instead. The special bondage between the young man and his father is now steadily quieting itself as the young teen feels a sense of abandonment and guilt towards his old man. With this being said, Trumbo, the author, utilizes a limited point of view, an intricate tone, and selection of detail to relay the fact that there are times in life where a transition is inevitable and that one must come to an understanding of those feelings…

It is so extreme in fact, anyone who truly endured the deepest of pains would likely agree that even death, a void that contains absolutely no emotion, would be more preferable. Pain weighs down on our souls, blurs the sight of our world, and stops the production that could occur in the absence of it.…
