John has always wanted to be a soldier. To be a hero; a savior of lives that do not concern him. Yet he is lanky. With a skinny figure and a bent back he walks with shame in each step as he knows he will never achieve his dream.
He also gets bullied at school. How could a victim, a poor excuse for a boy, ever be someone so great and so heroic when he can't even tell a man just a few months older than him with a better posture to back off.
His clothes fit loosely around him as he walks down the chilling street with his DC Comics school backpack hanging off one shoulder. A life where people only know him for the actions he will make and not the actions he has made. A life where he is seen in a different light.
He might even gain some friends.
No-one really wants to be his friend in school as he is seen as the nerdy kid with an unhealthy obsession with war. The fact that he is openly gay doesn’t help that matter in the slightest. How everyone treated John because he is gay is something that has always confused him; many others are gay and no-one minds. Why is he an exception?
He walks through the aging gates with stares and glares following right behind him. Whispers of disgust commence as he walks in.

The bell rings signalling the start of P.E. John's heart immediately sinks; a full hour of being judged and humiliated whilst pointlessly kicking a ball around a massive field. Fun.
"Faggot." John hears Rhys mutter under his occupied breath. He tries to shrug it off but he knows it's just the start to a long and dreadful day.

5 minutes until history is over- John is dreading it. He's been waiting all day for this period and it's nearly over. At least they have homework for it that was just set so he can go home and do that. And its about what soldiers wear now compared to what they used to wear!
Excitement rushed around in Johns body as he imagined the night's events.

Finally after a dreadful day of hate and sheer awkwardness John is back at his house with a backpack full of homework. Instead of heading to his room to immediatley start his work John heads for the kitchen in which he graps a granola bar and a glass of organge juice.
He knows that his 'hard-woking' parents will be back quite late as usual and will probably bring a very unhealthy take-out with them to make up for the little he eats in a day so John doesn't bother getting anything
