Gacy was diagnosed with a heart condition which limited his ability to play with other children. In conjunction with his heart condition, Gacy presented “feminine traits” which caused his father to further isolate him (Sandefur, 2021). At the age of seven, Gacy would be sexually assaulted by one of his father’s friends, this abuse continued for months and yet Gacy stayed silent out of fear.
