Gacy was diagnosed with a heart condition which limited his ability to play with other children. In conjunction with his heart condition, Gacy presented “feminine traits” which caused his father to further isolate him (Sandefur, 2021). At the age of seven, Gacy would be sexually assaulted by one of his father’s friends, this abuse continued for months and yet Gacy stayed silent out of fear. In the same year of 1949 Gacy would commit his first act of sexual assault, he and a friend molested a female classmate.
