I personal believe that John Updike’s main advice and the perspective he takes on writing is that you should bring to the surface topics that have never been brought about or create stories that are out of the ordinary. Like John said once he saw the A&P he realized that not many stories take place there it attracted his attention. He does not want to write the same old stories, he wants to create his own perspective and that is the advice he gives others. Write stories that nobody has heard. He also says that it important to get the readers engaged and intrigued at the beginning of the story. This is important because the readers will lose interest if there is nothing that appeals to them. I agree with all of John Updike’s advice and perspectives
