“YOU'RE FIRED!” Biography.com Editors (2015) Donald John Trump was born in Queens, New York on June 14, 1946. Raised in a family of five he was the fourth child to Frederick and Mary Trump. Not always being the money hungry business man we know him as today, Trump grew up in a somewhat blue collar family. If you could mentally create Donald Trump as a child the speculations you may imagine would more than likely be relatively correct. Throughout Trumps childhood he was always an energetic, assertive individual. At age thirteen his parents sent him to the New York Military Academy in hopes that his self-asserting personality would be displayed in a positive manner with the help of the high expectations and discipline of the academy (Early Life and Education, para. 1). Trump always visioned greater opportunities for himself in the business world leading him to the up rise in his move to Manhattan in 1971 where he speedily became involved in astronomic building projects and flipping them for major profits. Shortly after, he directed his focus in obtaining railroad yards on the west side of Manhattan as the Pennsylvania Central Railroad went bankrupt. In the years of 1974 and 1975 he acquired Pennsylvania Central Hotels and the Hyatt Hotel Corporation. By 1980, Trump had refined Hyatt hotels into the Grand Hyatt making himself the city's best known and controversial developer. Between the building years of Trumps growing hotel empire, he became involved in the casino business partnering with Harrah's. In return creating major national attractions to places you yourself may have visited. The Trump Taj Mahal is one of the most visited casinos in Atlantic City, making 216 million in 2014 (Atlantic City Casino Revenue, para. 7).
