John the Baptist was the main one who prepared the way for Jesus to come. He was the forerunner for the great Messiah to come, and his main goal was to set the tone for when Jesus came to change the world forevermore. John was raised in a priestly home on both sides of his family. John was the one who baptized men and women in the Jordan river and help them be prepared for what was to come. One unique qualities was that John had the Holy Spirit from birth. He is the first person the have the Holy Spirit because he was born roughly six months before Jesus, but he didn't consider himself to be Elijah or the Messiah, but rather a different forerunner for the new age.
