John Teeples Theory Of Hard Work

Decent Essays
John Teeples is the owner of Big Dog Running, John Teeples Construction, and Iron Bank Coffee. Today in class he talked to us about how he got to where he is and what we could do to achieve our goals. At 53 years old, Mr. Teeples has done a lot being the owner of 3 different businesses a coffee shop, an athletic store, and a construction company. This all started when he went into business for his self in 1991. A year later after hard work and connections he had made during his time working in construction he was able to open John Teeples Construction. Mr. Teeples talked to us about a lot of lessons that I believe he learned from his time traveling the circus. For instance, to get to where you want or what you want, your dues must be paid first. …show more content…
I understand that on a personal level because my brother was a similar situation. He went from working at Chick-fil-A for 4 years to traveling all over the country for a million dollar company maintaining their clients. This also falls into something else Mr. Teeples talked about which was the satisfaction of hard work. When he opened his business’s the hard work and dedication to what he wanted to achieve paid off in the end and the same can go for anyone else. There are things that I took the easy way on and things I worked for and I can attest to the fact that the hard work had a far more satisfying outcome. There were many tips that Mr. Teeples gave to us but the last one I will bring up were his 4 greats for opening a business which are location, space, service, and products. By following these greats as well as other important steps one could create a good stable business if they so choose. I enjoyed Mr. Teeples

Refection: The Unconventional Guest Speaker In Business 101, as a class, we were introduced to various guest speakers, who worked in some aspect of business. The guest speaker, who stood out the most, was Jared Loftus. Unlike the majority of guest speakers who discussed how great their company is and their success, Loftus took a different approach. Instead of focusing on his success, he discussed his “failures” in depth, which (in my opinion) was the most important lesson of all.…

In today’s society, everyone seems to have their own definition of success and how to achieve it. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book, Outliers, Gladwell claims that successful individuals are not only naturally talented, but that they practice a lot. According to Daniel Levitin, “The emerging picture from such studies is that ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world class-expert--- in anything.” (Gladwell 40). Although I agree with both Gladwell and Levitin in that ten thousand hours of practice may help in achieving a level of mastery, I still insist that natural talent and environmental factors play a much bigger role in how someone becomes successful in a certain area, because practice…

That is not always the case, though. I think it is important for people to realize that financial benefits should not overrule the condition of your overall well-being. Being able to make that connection and making due with what we have in life will be the main component to overall success and happiness. Written on page 120, “One thing I began to realize in my travels was that everyone I met was truly successful-whether in business, in philanthropic work, in human rights, in government, or in raising a family- shared one common trait: they were fanatically passionate about the work they did.” This quote concludes that if you truly believe and want something and want to work hard enough for it, it can be achieved.…

Book Review I like the book Made in America my Story it was well written. I enjoyed reading about Sam Walton’s life, and that his mom was a good motivator who supported him. It was interesting that when he had a lot of money, but found a way that he does not need to spend a lot. I guess it is because he grew up in the great depression era He said, “That’s simple because we should believe in the value of the dollar.” Sam and his family thought that if the money was spent foolishly, it would come out of the customer’s pocket.…

Benner's theory might not be accurate because people learn differently but it is a very realistic theory. My first job as a CNA probably took all the whole step, my first week of work was very scary, didn't know so much and the residents so well. I was trained for a week and was left to do ADLs for 18 residents. I did my first few months as I was taught in my CNA class, just by the book.…

Within the three divisions of his speech, Jobs also has the other messages for those who have read and or heard his speech. In his first part of the speech Jobs discusses “connecting the dots”. Basically, Jobs is saying we can only connect the dots backwards not looking forward, meaning we need to have faith in what our future has to hold and pay more attention to what is happening to our current lives so we don’t waste our youthful time worrying about the future. In his first third of the speech Jobs tells us about how he dropped out of college but stayed around as a drop-in. I found that interesting because before, I didn’t think you could take other classes you weren’t assigned to, but as Jobs states in his speech, he took a calligraphy class because he found the art of typography in the…

The core value of Hard Work is addressed and displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Night by Elie Wiesel, and Stand and Deliver Tom Musca . These texts show that humanity must protect the value of hard work. Hard work is defined as working with a great deal of effort and endurance, it could also be said that it also includes consistently working hard. This value is important because without hard work you can never really reach your full potential, and if we all were to consistently work hard we as a whole could solve some of the largest problems that plagued humans.…
