John Smith Biography

The year 2011 was a jam-packed year for John Smith. He grew up in a small town called Aurora in the wonderful, and beautiful State of Colorado. John grew up on a giant farm from when he was a newborn baby to a seventeen year old teenager. While he lived on the farm, he grew up to be strong, and tough, from baling hay, and milking horses. After seventeen years of working on the farm, John and his family moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Things were rough at first, living in the new rural area was hard for John. He didn’t really have any social skills at the time, since he didn't have a lot of friends.

John graduated at Aspen Valley High School in Colorado Springs in 2006. He didn't have many friends while at AVHS, but he got good grades

“Holy Moly, it’s already May!” John exclaimed

“Yeah I know right, it feels like we were counting down to 2011 just yesterday.” John’s mom, Darla added. “You know John, my co-worker said that her husband was the chief of the local firefighters, and they said they need a new recruit. I think you would be a pretty good firefighter, but what do you think?”

“Mom, are you trying to get me killed. Think of it, firefighter. You literally have to save people from the fire by going in there myself to save them, that is suicide!” John yelled.

“John you don’t understand, this could be an opportunity for you to help out the community. My friend’s husband said it would be an honor if you became one of his firefighters.”

Angered, John yelled, “No Mom! I'm not gonna die for others when I still have a lifetime to live.”

A few hours later, John lied in his bed, struggling to fall asleep. He thought about what his mother, Darla had said. John knew that a decision had to be made, he didn't have a job, and was struggling to find one considering he didn't go to college.
