It’s not news that human rights are being oppressed all over the globe. What is news is the Trump Administrations plans towards their own US citizens. Trump made a promise in his 2016 campaign to “Make America Great Again”, what does he mean by this? Does he mean for the US the take two steps back from the progress we have made in terms of discrimination and equality? Many people believe so and those same people took to the streets on January 21 in the Women’s March. This march didn’t just have White women’s rights being justified it was justifying the rights of many under represented groups of people like Muslim women and homosexuals. While women involved in the black and non-white feminism movement were concerned with their race, mainstream feminism never had to cross that barrier. In the identities of the women the groups differed. The difference in their goals are apparent when works featured in Nancy MacLean’s The American Women’s Movement, 1945-2000, a chapter by Michelle Wallace from Gloria T. Hull’s All the Women Are White, All the Men Are Black, But Some of Us Are Brave: Black Women 's Studies, and Kimberle Crenshaw’s…

It seems as though every time you look at the news President Trump is making headlines for the outrageous things he’s done. So what has Trump done now? This time, he has continued on his obvious discriminatory acts by ending TPS (Temporary Protected Status), a humanitarian program that allows people from unsafe countries to legally stay in America until conditions in the home country have resolved. After an earthquake in 2001 left thousands of Salvadorans homeless, TPS was enacted to allow them to stay and work here in America legally. This end will leave more than 250,000 Salvadoran immigrants without any legal status making them greatly susceptible to deportation.…

They march in rallies to protest acts or policies they do not like. While this may be true, women are usually not in office. They stay away from this and the men tend to want to hold office. “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” is a letter from Martin Luther King Jr. and is based on human rights and equality, specially for black people. My favorite part of this letter was when he wrote “Perhaps it is easy for those who have never felt the stringing darts of segregation to say, “Wait.” After that, he gives a couple of examples of when it is hard to explain the segregation to other people, specially to little kids. This impacted me so much because when you think about it, it is really hard to try and explain innocent kids why they fill inferior to other people, or why they fill different or left out. Even though this problem was years ago, you can still see cases of racism in the streets.…

“Make America Great Again.” That is the slogan a man ran on as he somehow captured the attention and the vote of millions of American citizens. That false hope convinced the country that somehow the progression the country had made in the past eight years was not great and that we had to “take back America.” Through all the debates, interviews, conventions and campaign rallies this slogan reached so many and no one thought to ever question it. No one ever thought to ever ask the question of not how he planned to make America great again, but rather who he planned to make it great for again.…

Darren J. O’Byrne, author of an Introduction to Human Rights (2003) defines human rights as universal and belonging to each of us regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, religion, political conviction, or type of government . This idea is clearly beneficial to many but it does come with an array of difficulties which will be touched upon later in the introduction. O’Byrne pushes the notion that human rights should be incontrovertible. Are human rights be incontrovertible? Under this idea, rights are guaranteed and do not fall under the states jurisdiction to deny them.…
