In The Crucible it is a play that takes place in Salem Massachusetts. The Crucible was written in 1953 by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is about the witch trails that happened in salem around 1692-1693. In the first act John Proctor did not have a sense of goodness. John Proctor did not have a good sense of goodness because he committed a terrible sin which the sin was adultery. John Proctor also doesn't have a good sense because he doesn't tell his wife or the court that he has committed a crime. In Act 3 John Proctor understand what he has done and he finds his goodness by going with his friends.
