In The Crucible it is a play that takes place in Salem Massachusetts. The Crucible was written in 1953 by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is about the witch trails that happened in salem around 1692-1693. In the first act John Proctor did not have a sense of goodness. John Proctor did not have a good sense of goodness because he committed a terrible sin which the sin was adultery. John Proctor also doesn't have a good sense because he doesn't tell his wife or the court that he has committed a crime. In Act 3 John Proctor understand what he has done and he finds his goodness by going with his friends. John Proctor gains his goodness when Mr.Danforth tells him that his wife is pregnant and that he could take her home for a year if he just says
