John Proctor has his trials and tribulations just like every other person. However when it comes down to it, he will always make the right decision. He is truly a tragic hero he is the person we all strive to be. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible, John Proctor is a farmer in the town of Salem, Massachusetts. He had an extramarital affair with Reverend Paris's niece Abigail Williams. She is also only 16, meaning that in the case of John and her havinh intimate relations she is underaged. Abigail, in her loving rage for John, goes to a “witch” meeting in the woods to have his wife killed so that her and John can live in happy matrimony. When John tells Abigail that the accusations need to end, he states that he will do anything to prove her guilty, even admit to fornificaion!He would admit this, dishonoring himself, to show that the intentions of the accusations are not pure but driven by a jealous love.
