John Proctor Rational Thinking Analysis

“How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!” John Proctor pleaded this as he was denied of his confession, and condemned to hang. John Proctor wa a middle aged farmers in Salem during the Salem Witch Trials. He was accused of witchcraft due to his minuscule attendance at church, and he tried to tell the court the truth, that the group of girls were lying and fking their visions and fits. He was hanged at the tail end of the trials because the court would not take his confession, but he passed on with his pride. John Proctor and I share many traits, such as using rational thinking commonly, being loyal to the people we care about, and display assertiveness when necessary. John Proctor and I both portray rational thinking to arrive at sound conclusions. An example of John Proctor being a rationalist is, “Why do you never wonder if Parris be innocent, or Abigail? Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God’s fingers?” This proves that Proctor uses rational thinking to figure a situation out. Relating to John, I also use reason to come to conclusions. An example of it is when my friends are fighting, I reason with both sides to fully understand the situation. An example of Proctor being loyal is, “These are my friends. Their wives are also accused.” This quote exhibits his loyalty to his friends, Giles Corey and Francis Nurse, whose wives are also accused, in which John will not turn his back on them for his own. I can also be seen as a loyal person, as keeping my morales and friendships are important to me. They are important to me because they are hard to gain and easy to lose, and can be very scarce.
