The last reason why John Proctor had a moral awakening was because he died to save his community from persecution. People in the puritan community in Salem saw John Proctor as a good honest person, and if John Proctor was to say that he had practiced witchcraft the whole community would believe him. If the whole community thought that the whole witchcraft thing was real then that would only enable the law to abuse their powers further and murder more people. John Proctor wouldn’t just stand aside and watched as his whole community was murdered just to save his own skin and be considered a witch for the rest of his life.
