John Proctor is a man of integrity, and he displays this trait in the play, “The Crucible” by John Miller. He stands up for what he believes in and has a strong moral compass. Throughout the play it is easy to look at John as a villain and as a man who is full of sin, but if you view him with an open minded perspective you can see that he is a morally just man. Although John made some foolish mistakes, we can see how his passionate love for his wife and family is everything that matters to him. Furthermore, John is a humble man, who sometimes makes mistakes, but can be seen showing integrity throughout the play by taking responsibility for his actions, being honest, and not letting the court tarnish his name.

He is conflicted with this decision, and when Elizabeth talks with him about the situation, she says, “And yet you’ve not confessed till now. That speak goodness in you”(1269 Miller).
