John Neri Economics Class Analysis

The first professor I talked to was John Neri my ECON305 professor. I want to start off by saying this class alone has made me hate economics with such a passion. However, back to the interview, my first question was “why did you choose economics over any other business major?”. Neri went on to explain his childhood and how his interests for economics became a hobby. He loved the theories and math of each and every corner of economics. I asked next I asked, “At what age did you realize economics was for you and your career path?”. He responded by saying college… So, you can count economics out for me as my major, because screw that. Then we went on to talk about how the rest of the class was going to unfold and the syllabus from that point on. I chose Neri, because I was considering economics as my major and to see why in the hell I hated this class so much. Apparently, I am in the beginner levels of economics …show more content…
He is an odd man, I legitimately remember him telling us that he does not like us, but loves the content. Honestly, it was a truly awkward experience for the class, I do not know how to feel about it. Jabaji has tons of leadership experience, so I asked, “why do you want to teach?”. He did not give a clear answer, however he did say that he loves the content of all type of information and learning is what makes him want to teach more. I asked next, “what was your favorite leadership position?”. He talked about his time outside of the country and discussed a few different roles he played, but never identified one over the other. I chose professor Jabaji, because of his knowledge on leadership, and experience with a leadership role/ position. My meeting with Jabaji was on the go due to time constraints, but what surprised me was the fact that he actually gets no energy from the students. He is one of the few professors I know that is an

Future Profession Interview When assigned an interview in my freshman level English class, there was no doubt in my mind that Clint Selman, my honors psychology professor, would be my first choice. Professor Selman is by far one of my favorite professors and I, coincidentally, hope to someday have his exact career. Selman works as a professor of psychology at Tyler Junior College as well as a part-time counselor at the Samaritan Counseling Center of Tyler. He has a lot of experience in the field of psychology, so I figured he was my best option to learn how to get the most out of my education as well as help me better understand the career that I want and how to get it.…

The article titled “Class in America--2012” by Gregory Mantsios examines the state of the division of the economy in America, thus creating different classes that separate citizens. The author discusses how Americans sometimes choose to ignore the issue, or are simply ignorant to it. I think that this article is entirely correct. I agree with the standpoint of the author and appreciate the credible sources that he utilizes. Americans today are often misinformed and often oblivious to some harmful economic classes that have developed over time in this country.…

“What the political scientist Michael Harrington wrote back in 1962 is still true: most people who are poor are poor because “they made the mistake of being born to the wrong parents.” The middle class isn’t all that mobile, either: only twenty per cent of people born into the middle quintile ever make it into the top one. And although we think of U.S. society as archetypally open, mobility here is lower than in most European countries.” (“The Mobility Myth,” James Surowiecki) The general emphasis on people’s development and improvement over time supports the idea that upward mobility is possible, given the necessary prerequisites.…

One thing that I'm currently taking in school is an example of something I think is pointless right now but I'm starting to realize it could help me. This class is consumer math. The things we are learning right now and have been doing in this class is things that are obvious and I've known from having a job. Things such as hourly wages and time-and-a-half for overtime. I get bored going over simple things that I already know and it makes me wonder why I'm having to learn it all again.…
