John Nash Diagnosis

This being one of my favorite movies of all time, I could not deny using this opportunity to write about one of the most severe cases of schizophrenia to be diagnosed with. Along with being based on a true story, this captivating film clearly showed what it is like for people to have this diagnosis go untreated and how it warps the mind. The movie starts out in 1947 with John Forbes Nash Jr., a genius among the time, who comes to Princeton University as a graduate student after receiving the Carnegie Scholarship for his work in mathematics. While Nash is at a bar with some of his fellow students, they try to come up with a strategy to talk to some woman there. As they discuss some possible approaches, Nash creates an idea, which becomes known as the Nash Equilibrium and publishes a piece on it. This game theory basically states that if there are two people in a situation and one person has taken the other person's perspective into account and is a making the best decision that they can; and the second person is doing the exact same thing by taking the first person's decision into account, then the best conclusion will be settled within the group. If I ignore this fact, I would have most definitely recommended that he be prescribed this treatment. It is well known that this type of drug has seemed to be a more effective treatment because it helps treat both positive and negative symptoms that a patient may be experiencing. I have a feeling that it is a high possibility that Nash would have tried this form of medication because it is has shown that it causes the individual to have fewer negative side effects. By having this as a characteristic of this drug, fewer people decide to stop taking the medication which in turn causing them to be less likely to fall back into the psychosis.
