Emotional intelligence is a psychological trait that identifies your own emotions, so you can empathize with others. The term was coined in 1990 by psychologists John Mayer and Peter Salovey, the two of them conducted a scientific study by focusing on a four-branch model that characterizes the human behaviors to understand about social awareness, relationship management, self-management, and self-awareness.
First, Social awareness is tuning into other people to respond to their needs. For example, I work in a women’s boutique that deals with demanding customers on a daily basis. Often times I just want to pull the “I speak no English” card on them. But it is difficult to walk away from customers because they always have these dumbfounded questions that they love to ask such as “Excuse me, ma’am, how much is this item?” The price tag is literary in front of them! And of course my favorite of all dumb questions “Do Y'all have any more of this colored jean in backstock?” … my response was “No ma’am, we don’t carry back stock in our store. everything that we have in our inventory is already put out on the sales floor.” … The response I got back was “
