In particular, this commercial targets that of adults with children as it inspires adults to feel the spirit of the holiday as well as bring the spirit of the holiday to the home through the John Lewis brand. This commercial also attempts to target that of families with extended family members and especially older members of the family. With John Lewis’ cooperation with Age UK, this commercial attempts to create a connection with families who have older family members. During the holiday season, many older people are simply left alone or have been forgotten for a long time. This commercial attempts to reach out to these families and encourage them to bring love to the older people in their life and show them that they are loved. Throughout the commercial, an interesting mix of color schemes is used in order to create the feelings between the two different worlds of the man and the young girl. On the moon, the man walks through a monochrome and dusty world, alone to himself and his thoughts. Whenever the moon is shown the colors are very muted and contain very little life and energy. On the other hand, the girl’s world is filled with color and warmth. The world she lives in is filled with a warmth of a home while around her are a wide array of colors and sights. Whenever she looks through her telescope at the world of the man on the moon she can see the gray of his world yet hers is surrounded by warmth. This scheme changes once the man receives the telescope from the girl. A bouquet of balloons brings a flash of warmth and color to the man’s world as he receives his gift. The warmth of the present spreads around him, enveloping him in light and color. While there is not text or dialogue through the commercial this commercial brings a clear message and a sense of warmth throughout anyone who views it. The message at the end ties this commercial together, reminding everyone to come together during the holidays and show everyone that they are truly
