After the trip John was feeling down about the fact that he had to leave. One month later, John decided to do something about that. He called his real estate agent and John asked him to help look for houses in south Florida. In July, John found a house right next to the water and he bought it for $499,995.
“I love it here, so warm, nothing to worry about,” John said with a big smile on his face.

Over the next couple of days, John ate what was left in his refrigerator (a half-eaten cheeseburger, four apples, a plate of fries and frozen waffles) to last him the next four days. Those next four days would be the longest four days of John’s life. He was starving, thirsty and starting to lose hope. Still, John was determined to keep himself going until first responders could save him.
After a week of raging winds, flood waters and 100+ mile per hour winds speeds John had managed to keep himself alive. John had gone around his house to grab materials to send a signal to first responders to let them know he is still alive. He grabbed a wooden post that had fallen over and blown onto the beach next to his house. He grabbed some household chemicals, lit the post on fire and threw the chemicals on top sending up red smoke.
