John Holland’s career-related personality types are six different personality types that one can categorize themselves into. Like most individual I found that after reviewing the types I fall into multiple personality types. I felt I most related to social, conventional and artistic.
Mr. Holland concludes social individuals as humanistic, responsible and concerned for the welfare of others. These individual enjoy group activities, healing and counselling others. According the website hopkinsmedicine, “They are generally focused on human relationships and enjoy social activities and solving interpersonal problems.” These people prefer to work as part of a team, and genuinely enjoy working with people. They have therapeutic communicate skills and can be persuasive. I would say I would fall under the social typed because I view myself as understanding, helpful, cheerful. They are comfortable working within an established chain of command and prefer carrying out well-defined instructions over assuming leadership roles.” These individual are well organized and often enjoy working with data. This type of career related personality type rarly seeks the spotlight roles.
I feel that I too fall into the Conventional personality type. I view myself as responsible, orderly, dependable and efficient. I prefer being organized. The only thing I didn’t relate to is that I find myself to creating and most people of this category find themselves lacking in creativity. I feel that my career choice as a nurse can also fall into this category because a nurse must follow written doctors’ orders and protocols. As a nurse I never look for my profession to be a spotlight role but rather a backstage working getting someone ready for their own
