John Grogan has very delightful memories of his childhood pet, Shaun. When him and his wife, Jenny are deciding to have children, they decide to get a dog as a good parenting subject. They go to a local breeder who specializes in Labrador Retrievers. Jenny picked out a very rowdy golden puppy named Marley. John and Jenny’s life soon gets comfortable with Marley. Jenny comes home from work to feed him and exercise, while John takes him for walks every morning. Of course, there are a few more mishap. Marley is terrified of thunderstorms, and makes a mess of the garage trying to escape the noise. Marley proves himself to be completely loyal to the Grogan’s. When Jenny suffers from miscarriage, Marley sits there as Jenny cries. Jenny gets put on
