Nothing is more interesting and adventurous than a boy who is infatuated with a girl who doesn’t notice him right? It sounds like a typical teenage novel but the New York Times best-seller Paper Towns by John Green will make you rethink that. This book is about Quentin “Q” Jacobson on a quest to find the girl he is in love with, Margo Roth Spiegelman, after they went on an adventure. When Q came to school the next day, excited to be friends with Margo again after quite some time, he found out she disappeared. So, on graduation, Q and his friends Ben, Radar, and Lacey set out to Agloe, New York because of clues Margo left behind.
The author, John Green, has had many best-sellers such as, The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Many of Green’s novels are based on things he has experienced in life. His novel, Looking for Alaska, was very much influenced by his school life. A common theme in his novels is real life. The endings are never a typical happily ever after, he isn’t afraid to give a more realistic ending which I like. Sometimes the endings are incredibly sad or don’t turn out the way you want it to but it’s more realistic than any

It is somewhat of an easy read but I enjoy that with the plot being so interesting. I think if it wasn’t an easy read it would not adequately reach the intended audience; teens. I did not find myself lost or confused because the plot was clear. Although some characters such as Margo and Lacey were frustrating, I still liked the development and felt it went along with the plot. Paper Towns appealed to me in an emotional way. With John Green’s other books, I’m usually crying throughout the entire ending, but not with Paper Towns. I mentioned a lot of things that made me recommend this book to others, but there is so much more to the plot that you’ll have to read to find

Another thing I liked about this book was that the main character went on an adventure and discovered himself. One thing in this book that worked for me was how Hinton transitioned pieces of the story. A good example of this is in the beginning when Travis was sent away from his mom and stepdad to go live with his uncle. This book is similar to S.E. Hinton’s other stories like “The Outsiders” and “Rumble Fish”. These stories all involve troubled youths living in hard times.…

Margo Roth Spiegelman is the main character in the novel Paper Towns by John Green. Margo has proved herself to be extremely mysterious. Margo is like a mirror, because she is a reflection of what everyone else wants to see. She is not really herself even when she is with her closest friends and family. She is merely the person everyone makes her out to be and wants to see.…

I have so many different thoughts and opinions about this book. I started out loving Has to Be Love, was super conflicted in the middle, but thought the ending was pretty spectacular. Like I said, conflicted. Our narrator, Clara, was rather frustrating to read about because she was so torn between what decisions to make about particular things, but she was a truthful character (to us at least). Reading Clara's justifications for wanting certain things made me more interested in the story and what would eventually happen…

The most meaningful part of this book, The River of Doubt, I believe is when Theodore Roosevelt decided to go on the journey to the Amazon. This is the most meaningful part to me because it shows how you should never give up and just because you can’t get one thing that you want doesn’t mean you can’t reach a different goal. After Roosevelt lost the presidential election in 1912 he set his eyes on one of his other passions, adventure. I believe that the purpose of this book was to show that Theodore Roosevelt wasn’t just a great president, but he was also a great explorer. It also shows the fight he had to not get discouraged after he lost the presidential election and to move on to other things.…

How did I feel about the book Unlikely Allies? I had lots of difficulty reading the book, from the sudden changes in scenes to the exhausting writing. It felt like a sloppy mess of sudden twists and turns that would, in most books, keep me intrigued, but this did not interest me at all. If the author added just a little bit of flair to the certain parts of the writing then I think I would really enjoy the book. The book had things I didn’t like, a few things I did like, and a couple things I would change.…

It is a book that many young adults can relate to, showing how important good decision making can be. It is a very well-written book, and the plot is very well planned out. The first-person view of this book without question takes the book to a whole nother level, adding an emotional effect to the book by showing what Jonas is feeling about each situation. It is also a very realistic book. It is obvious that the author likes realistic books when he adds, “in a TV show, McDowell would have been arrested Hartwell, there’d have been a trial, and then a jury would have sent him to prison for fifty years.…

I believe that the novel is very unpredictable and that the author, John Green, uses many literary elements to make the novel interesting. Firstly, he puts a hook at the end of chapters to create suspense so readers would want to read on. However, the author did this at the end of the book and I felt frustrated because I didn’t know what would happen next after the second road trip. Secondly, he artistically and skillfully describes actions and uses dialogue to help us characterize and imagine the characters. Thirdly, he uses flashbacks at the end of chapters to help us understand the past and how it links with the present, but also breaks it up so we would gradually understand what is happening, and this creates suspense as well.…
