John Flanagan's The Ruins Of Gorlane

The book I read this month was The Ruins of Gorlan, the first book of the series Rangers Apprentice by John Flanagan. This book was about a boy in medieval times who didn't know his parents. Once young people turn fifteen they were selected to become an apprentice to one of the castles craft master. This boy's name was Will something, because of not knowing his parents he didn't know his last name or what he was suppose to do once he turned fifteen. Most kids followed in there parents foot steps but kids like Will get to choose what they want to do. The crafts are: Battle school, Cooking school, and Scribe school. There were others but they weren't available for the kids to choose. The kids that were with Will names were Jenny, George, Horace, and Alyss. Will was selected to become a ranger. Rangers were the sneaky ones who got information for the castle. The ranger who was teaching Will how to be a ranger was a man by the name of Halt. Halt was old and not the nicest person in the castle. Some people believed the Rangers used Black Magic. When Will reported for duty on the first day Halt had him doing house chores are morning and most of the afternoon. Finally Halt took Will out to show Will the weapons of a ranger. I love the action in this book. It was full action like when Will climbed the Barons tower and almost got caught by the castle guard (pg. 33-41). There wasn't much of anything I didn't like about the book. The book was so entertaining. The wild bore hunt(pg. 135-144) was fun to read and imagine what happened and what Will and Horace where thinking. I would like to know who Will's parents where but not know adds to story and makes you want to read on. I do like how he doesn't seem to be good at anything and just before he gets sent for to go work in the fields Halt steps in. I would also like to know more about Halt. What is this role? What has he done in the past? Did he know Will's
