Kennedy was running up against Richard Nixon during the presidential campaign. Kennedy was supporting the democratic side of the party. He carried 68 of the African American vote, because of a well-timed call to Mr. Martin Luther King Jr, and by carrying 78% of the Catholic vote (Historic World Leaders). On November 1963, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, he was assassinated by a sniper, allegedly Lee Harvey Oswald (Britannica Concise Encyclopedia). The assassination happened November 22,1963, hardly passing his thousandth day in office. This wasn’t a huge shocker because at the time not many people were for the civil rights. JFK was getting things done and trying to change the lives of the future which many people did not agree with this is why some people were against him. He was for equality and people did not like that. His death provoke hundreds of studies and eight investigators before the case was fully resolved (Historic World Leaders).
