John F Kennedy's Major Accomplishments

He was born June 25th in 1933 in kosciusko. He became famous because he was the first African American to go to an all white collage. Before he wanted to go to college he had planned on going to the air force after high school. Instead of going to the air force he put in an application at Jackson State, in that time the schools there were all segregated. Most of the time they did not accept African Americans. In 1961 he applied to an all white college in Mississippi. When his application was rejected twice he went to the NAACP (it is an organization that helps colored people) he went there and complained that racial and unfair things were happening when he went to court about it they did nothing to fix it. When he did that it got a lot of people interested in what was going on. Because of that many people got mad. When he did not get into mississippi state he tried many others but was rejective. Many people saw how bad it was and many of them got angry with them. When John F. Kennedy saw it he ordered 500 federal officers to take James into the college grounds. When people started to see it on the news mobs of people came very mad and started to throw bricks at officers and some even had guns. Kennedy sent 100 more officers to back them up. The troops could not shoot so they used tear gas to calm down the mobs. After all of the fighting was over and everyone was settled down 2 people dead, 160 injured, 28 troops were shot by people in the crowd. He started school and graduated in the 1963, he was active in the local civil rights efforts. He also started a walk from Memphis to Jackson in the 1966. On the second day of the march James was shot by a sniper, luckily he rejoined on June 24th. After he finished the walk he went to get his law degree, two years later after getting his law degree he applied at Columbia University law
