The Freedom Riders loaded buses and were attempting to break the segregation codes by traveling through very violent racist regions in the south. Then when they reached Alabama they got jumped by an all white mob. The mob followed them to a church and threatened to storm the church. At this time JFK sent some of the US Marshals to protect the Freedom Riders. Was that a good call? That's for you all to decide. Then when JFK really got involved was when a governor who goes by the name of George Wallace tried to physically prevent the students from entering the campus by standing in front of the main building. When JFK heard about this he sent in the National Guard who took care of that situation. At the very end of it all when JFK wanted to end it, he outlined for a Civil Rights bill.
