John F Kennedy Leadership Qualities Essay

John F. Kennedy had excellent leadership qualities. As a young man, Kennedy was not the well-mannered, hard-working man he was during his roles in the government, but he still had leadership qualities. His leadership qualities were shown during his involvement in the Muckers’ Club while he attended Choate School. This club did several things in straight defiance of the school’s beliefs and rules. It was basically a club opposite of the student council. Although he was a troublemaker, he was looked at as a leader of the club by the headmaster. Even at young age, he was developing leadership skills and qualities. His leadership qualities were also shown during his shipwreck in the year 1943. Kennedy and his crew were all eventually saved thanks to his hard work, perseverance, and leadership qualities. His intelligence was also shown when he dealt with the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cuban Missile Crisis was between the United States, the Soviet Union, and Cuba. It started when the threat of Fidel Castro allowing the Soviet Union to have nuclear missiles on the island of Cuba arose. Cuba, which was only ninety miles off the coast of Florida, was Communist and held a huge threat to the United States, especially since it was so close in range. Even though there were several assurances that the Soviet Union would never send nuclear weapons of any sort to Cuba, there were pictures that showed “indisputable evidence that at least half a dozen nuclear missile launching sites were under construction on the island” (94).
