in 1952 for his spot in the Senate. Not only was Kennedy’s political career taking off, but also during this time he met his wife who he would eventually have three children with. Also during this time he started to undergo treatment for his disease, and got two back surgeries that would greatly improve his well being. During his time off, he would write a collection of biographies, named Profiles in Courage, which would win the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1957. He had major plans, like to set up the United States Peace Corps, also during this time Kennedy and his wife had their first son, John Kennedy Jr. During the campaign, Kennedy endured 18 hour days and traveled to many states a day, and all of this set him up for his speech that he gave on January 20th. During his campaign, he met with small town people who were working just support their families, these people were known as the working class of America. Meeting these people, interacting with them, and learning to answer questions in the spotlight. All of these events would eventually lead up to the great speech that Kennedy gave on January 20th, in Washington D.C. “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”
