John F. Kennedy: The Youngest Man To Die In The Office

Do you know the youngest man elected president, and the youngest man to die in the office? The answer is John F. Kennedy.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was the second oldest child of Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Kennedy. John was named after his grandfather John Fitzgerald, who at that time was mayor of Boston. Kennedy liked to go sailing with his brother Joe Jr. During the Great Depression the Kennedy's were not affected and instead lived a privileged life. Jack as he was called from childhood had a youth of sickness.

In 1938, when John was 21 he received his one million dollars from his father, his father became ambassador to England. John as a senior at Harvard wrote his senior paper in England.

He had beat the then Vice President Richard Nixon. Johns domestic affairs were nicknamed The New Frontier. Kennedy though to lower taxes you have to raise the minimum wage. This would happen through an economic boom that would last till the late 1960s. John also believed in civil rights and equality. Kennedy had even met with Martin Luther King Jr. at the White House. The Civil Rights Act though would not be signed till after JFKs death. It would be passed in 1964. Also JFK set up the Peace Corps

For foreign affairs this involves The Bay of Pigs Invasion on Cuba, Cuban Missile Crisis and the moon landing just to name a few. The Bay of Pigs failed the Cuban Missile Crisis was successfully handled with and the moon landing was not done till Richard Nixon was in office.

On November 22, 1963, Kennedy and his wife were driving in a parade in Dallas, Texas when the young president was shot. He was rushed to the hospital and died 30 minutes later. He had only been in office for 1,037 days. JFK was the youngest man elected president (43) and the youngest to die in office (46). He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald for an unknown reason.
