John F. Kennedy: The Role Of Democracy In The United States

The United States of American was founded on July 4, 1776 by the hard-work of the founding fathers and other revolutionaries. The country was established under the idea of democracy. Democracy is a form of government in which the citizens are the root of power. There are forty-five presidents in history and each of them has contributed to the United States in many ways. John F. Kennedy was United States’ 35th president and was probably one of the most debatable presidents in history. A careful examination and analysis of the presidency of John F. Kennedy leads to the conclusion that American democracy was enhanced as a result of the effort he made on the civil right movement, his support of the equality between sex, and his protection of freedom of speech. Democracy, the most frequently used word in politics, can be interpreted in many ways. However, the most commonly used definition is that democracy is people. Society is made up of different kinds of people and therefore, it should represent people. In the United States, power of the government comes from the consent of people.
