Releasing a statement in March of 1979, the Committee stated that President Kennedy was assassinated as a result of a probable conspiracy. In 1992 Congress passed an act to release all of the documents related to the assassination, with the exception of select documents reviewed to remain sealed until October of 2017.
Due to this secrecy there are multiple conspiracy theories about the incident. A poll of americans just after the incident states that some 52% of the population think that there was a third party involved in the shooting. There were multiple books published suggesting a conspiracy even before the Warren Commission's report was issued.
One theory is that there were multiple shooters, with varying locations. The most commonly thought of location is a grassy knoll with a wooden picket fence on it. Any bills in Congress for further investigations were quietly shelved and a release of the Zapruder Film, showing a snap backwards of kennedy's head, making many think a conspiracy was definitely involved.
No matter how many theories are posed, or how many times we think we've solved this mystery, the only way to truly know is to have been there and seen everything at the time of the shooting. The facts we know stay the same though, and even though we may try to pose differing ideas, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy is dead from a 6.5mm bullet to the head, and nothing is changing
